Max's Big Athletic Weekend - 7 is the lucky number.

Saturday morning Max ran in the Bay State Games after qualifying for the Junior Boys 14 and under 100m dash.  He placed 7th overall.     The meet was held at the MIT track.

Moving to a USA swim meet at MIT Saturday and Sunday night he improved his times in the 50 Breast, 100 Free, 100 Breast, 200 Breast,  200 Free, and 100 Back.   He placed 7th overall in the 12 and under 50 Breaststroke.   

SHED!

I've been spending the last 2 weeks going through old boxes, sorting, and trying to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. This morning I heard a great acronym to use: Separate treasures, Heave the rest, Embrace identity from within, and Drive yourself forward. Without being aware of it this is what has been motivating me. Still have more to go. My goal is to have everything done by end of week -- wish me luck!

My Niece's Poem is Published

My niece Diana had a poem published in Teen Ink.     I enjoyed the mental imagery it provoked and it made me smile as I fully relate.  Enjoy in Teen Ink and leave your own comments and votes if you'd wish.    

Megan's First Horse Show

I'm really proud of Megan.   One year ago Megan was nervous about cantering and now she is in a Hunter Jumper show.   She has been taking classes since April and was assigned this horse to ride at the show 2 weeks ago.   It is a strong horse who she has to hold back because you are not suppose to canter the jumps. 

Megan wants to improve her posture on the horse over the jumps and putting her feet in the correct place.   Congratulations Megan!

Celebrating God's Promise with Song

St. John's Jr Choir presented "I Am a Promise" on Sunday.   The kid's singing inspired all of us.   Here is one of the numbers from the musical.    The choir consists of ages 8 - 12 (3rd - 6th grade). Max is currently a member and in addition to the musical they participate in the service almost every Sunday by singing the Offertory.

February Break Family Ski Trip

We were fortunate to be able to take a family ski trip to Black Mountain outside of where we stayed in Jackson Village, NH.   It is a small family mountain that offers all of us the skiing/snowboarding levels we enjoy and the kids a little independence to ski off by themselves.   We were joined by Seth's cousins, The Horowitz family, who have 2 boys ages 9 and 12.   We have beautiful sunny weather that remained mostly in the 20s so the snow stayed loose for skiing.   We all ski except for Max who enjoys the snowboarding.   One evening we enjoyed an ice skating park that had campfires lit to enjoy smores.      We arrived home on Thursday to more snowfall in Duxbury.  It has been a cold and snowy winter.    I'm getting anxious for Spring.  (Note: you can double click on the photos to see them larger)

We've had a snowy and cold January and February. The challenge has been keeping the driveway and walkways ice free. Last week Max and Seth worked on breaking the ice and the chips were 2 inches thick with 3 layers. Here are some pictures of our house.
